My homentown- Bydgoszcz

Hi :)

This is my last post. A session time begins so I have to study, unfortunetelly. Soon a holiday will begin. Maybe some of you will visit Bydgoszcz, so I'd like to present you some of places worth seeing.

First some general information; Bydgoszcz belongs to Pomerania Voivodeship since 1999. It's the 8th largest city in Poland, with its area of 174.57 km2 and population around 360000. The name of the city derives from Byd and Gost, foundators of Bydgoszcz.

Wyspa Młyńska (Mill Island) is among the most spectacular and atmospheric places in Bydgoszcz. It is situated in the very heart of the city centre, just a few steps from the old Market Square. It was the 'industrial' centre of Bydgoszcz in the Middle Ages. Now it's a place for many concerts, thans to it's ''romantic'' caracter we can also meet many young couples during their photo session. The are some cafes and famous Warzelnia, where we can drink beer fresh brewed. From Mill Islad we can see the building of Opera Nova.

Śródmieście ( City Centre)- it's a part of city where we can find many histotical buildings. The main street is Gdańska Street. There are many shops, cafes, but also we can admire architecture, Piastowski Square with neo-baroque church. And, of course, we can go shopping to the gallery ''Drukarnia'' ;)

Myślęcinek, or Leśny Park Kultury i Wypoczynku - the largest municipal park, it's area is 830 ha. It's situated in a northern part od Bydgoszcz. It's divided into three parts:
- the western part- there we can relax and listen to the nature.
- the eastern part- it's zone for recreation. We can go to the zoo, enjoy ourselves in a lunapark, walk among the trees, make  a picnic in a clearing ''Różopole'', go fishing, eat diner in a restaurat or just observe horses during their excercises.
- the northern part- during winter we can use a ski lift and during summer we can play a golf. Also we can visit a botanic garden or a Centre of Ecological Education.
It's my favourite place in Bydgoszcz. I realyy like ride there by bike, then sit and reflect.

Fordon (sorry, but as a patriot I have t present my district ;) )- till 1793 it was a city, but then became a district of Bydgoszcz. It is know as a bedroom suburb, just because there aren't much to do. But, on the other side, I appreciate it because I've never wanted to live in a centre. The most famous part of Fordon are Górki Fordońskie (Hills). We can find there many things- mushrooms, apples, blackberries, hop... For everyone something special ;). Here is a view from Górki:

In the end I want to show some more photos to inspire you and encourage to visit my city :) I can serve as a guide ;)

Enjoy your holiday!
