Jodi Picoult

Today I want wrote about Jodi Picoult, an american author. She has written 19 novels so far, which has been traduced to 30 languages. She is known in all world. She admit that apart of being a novelist, her main role is being a mother of three children. That's why her stories are based on real life and real problems. What caracterize her books is a back- and- forthe flashback format, which firstly is a little bit confused but with every pager a reader get used to it. I'd like to describe two of her books which I've read and which really moved me.

Keeping Faith (1999)- Mariah catches her husband, Colin, with another woman. After this incident they decide to divorce and Mariah get a full custodu of their seven- year- old daughter, Faith. Woman fall into depression and in the same time Faith develops an imaginary friend called ''Guard''. She is taken to a therapist who finds that a girl may be seeing God. Miracles start to happen and a world is focused on Faith's gift. Later Mariah fall in love  with Ian, a 'tekleatheist' who's travelling around the country searching miracles. If you want to know what happen after that, I recommend you to read the book :)

My sister's keeper (2004)- the story takes place in Rhode Island. Anna's older sister, Kate, suffers from a blood and bone marrow cancer. Anna since the day of her birth is a donor for Kate. At first all is successful, but one day Anna decides to stop it. She wants to have a control over her body and be able to make her own decisions. She goes to a lawyer, Campell Alexander, to ask him for help. From this time Anna's parents start to quarell, many problems appear. The end of the story is tragic, but what I can say is that Kate survives.
A story was adapted into a film in 2009, starred with Cameron Diaz. I haven't seen it yet but I hope a movie is so emotional as a book.

Tolkien- an author for all generations

He everybody!

Today I want to mantion J.R.R. Tolkien- an author whose book 'The Hobbit' started my love for books. I've never liked reading before, but when my friend borrowed me this book I've been reading almost without break. Then I went to library and bought all volumes of 'The lord of the rings', which now occupy a main place in my bookcase.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was an English wroter, poet, philologist and university professor. In 2008 he was ranked by The times as a sixth on a list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945". His books belongs to fantasy, e.g. The Hobbit, a trylogy The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion.

The Hobbit is a fantasy novel. It describes adventures of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit, Gandalf, a wizard, and a group of dwarves, who begin a journey to find a ring. Also we can learn about other types of creatures, such as elves, trolls or goblins.

The Lord of the Rings is a trylogy ( volumes: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King) when we can read about adventures of Frodo Baggins and four others hobbits which are travelling with a company of Aragorn, a human, Legolas, an elf and Gimli, a dwarf. In their journey they have to overcome many troubles, many times they have to risk their lives. What really interested me in these books are words, also sentences, written in elves language.

I really recommend Tolkien's books. I haven't read his ther stories yet, but maybe somebody can share his opinion?

Jane Austen

Today we're gona move to 1775, a year when Jane Austen was born. Her books are differetns than those of 2 previos authors. She wrote romantic fiction and an action took place in mansions or in castles. What I like in her books? First of all, I like descriptions of customs and clothes. I'm fascinating with the culture and style of living in XVIIIth and XIXth centuries. And also I like the way she describes adventures of main caracters.

Manfield Park was the first novel of Jane I've read. It's about a girl, Fanny Price, who is taken from her poor family to be raised by her uncle and aunt. She lives there with her 4 cousins, but only one of them, Edmund, takes care of her. Unfortunately, Fanny fall in love with him.
Few years later a family, to be precise brother and sister,  Crawford buy a mansion near Mansfield Park. From that time a situation of Fanny and her family starts to become more and more difficult. I don't want to arite details, what I can say is that these problems are connected with love. I really recommend this novel to everyone who likes reading about love in XIXth century :)

Pride and Prejudice was written in 1813. Elizabeth Benner, a main caracter, has a astong relationship with her father and her sister, Jane. She fall in love with Mr Darcy, a wealty owner of the family estate of Pemberley in Derbyshire, but first they are forced to spend time with each other and they have to force their prejudices.

These 2 books are my favorites, but Jane Austen has written much more, for example, Emma, sense and sensibility, Persuasion, Northaner Abbey. I haven't read them all but they're waiting in my bookcase till February, when all the exams from winter session will be passed :)
